Anime31 designsCel-shaded skies, hard-edged light, saturated gradients. The look most roleplay servers aimed at a younger audience ask for.Anime plates trade depth for legibility, and at small sizes that trade pays. Hard-edged shapes and high-chroma gradients survive a 468x60 crop and a 300x300 downscale far better than a photographic scene does, because there is no fine detail to lose.
Grunge31 designsTorn edges, print texture, heavy grain, desaturated bases. Suits crime and street roleplay far better than a clean gradient.Grunge is the only style here that uses texture as the subject. The plate is desaturated and damaged, the accent is the single clean thing in the frame, and the contrast between the two is what carries the composition.
Painted31 designsMatte-painting art direction. Visible structure, wide tonal range, colour pushed further than a camera would see it.Painted plates are the middle ground and the most forgiving. Colour is already exaggerated, so pushing the palette to a saturated accent does not look like a filter, and the tonal range is deliberately wide, which gives the wordmark a bright band to sit against and a dark corner to shadow into.
Photoreal31 designsScenes that read as a photograph: real depth of field, real haze, light that falls off the way light does.Photoreal plates are the safest choice for a server that wants to look like an established operation rather than a project. They carry depth without carrying a mood, which means the lettering and the palette do the identity work and the backdrop stays a backdrop.
