Upload at 2560x1440 and a phone shows the centre 1546x423. That rectangle is the only part everyone sees.
YouTube channel art at its real ratio. Hover to animate. Previews are watermarked.
YouTube channel art is the one format where the upload size and the visible size have almost nothing to do with each other. You upload 2560x1440, and then a television shows the whole frame, a desktop shows a wide strip, a tablet shows less and a phone shows only the centre 1546x423. Those are crops out of the same file, not resizes, which is why a design that fills the full frame can look completely empty on mobile.
Every channel art file here keeps the wordmark, the tagline and the invite inside the mobile safe area, and also exports that rectangle as its own file cut from the full-resolution render. That gives you an exact preview of what a phone will show before you upload anything, which saves the upload, check, re-crop loop.
The second file in this category is a thumbnail base plate at 1280x720. A thumbnail is looked at in a grid of other thumbnails at a few hundred pixels wide, so what it needs is one readable thing and strong contrast, not detail. The plate carries the scene and your server name with the bottom right kept clear for the duration badge, and you add the episode title on top. Doing that per video is what makes a channel's uploads read as a series rather than as unrelated clips.
