FiveM
This is the one graphic every single player who joins your server sees, full width, while they have nothing else to look at.

banner_connecting is drawn across the top of the connecting dialog, the window a player stares at while the handshake, the resource download and the first spawn happen. Unlike the detail panel, which only people browsing the list see, this one is seen by every single player who ever joins, every time they join. It is the highest-impression graphic a FiveM server owns.
It is set the same way as the detail banner: sets banner_connecting "https://example.com/connecting.png" in server.cfg, replicated to the client, fetched over HTTPS. The same hosting rules apply and the same cache behaviour applies, so a filename change is how you ship new art.
At 1920x320 the proportions are much friendlier than the detail strip, which changes what belongs in it. There is room for the wordmark at full weight, the tagline underneath and an invite ribbon, and the extra height means the backdrop actually reads as a scene rather than as a texture. Our layout for this format is built from scratch at 1920x320 rather than cropped out of the wide strip, because a crop of a 17:1 composition puts the lockup in the wrong third.
The one layout constraint to respect is the bottom edge. The client draws its connection status text, the progress indicator and the cancel button immediately below the banner, and on short windows the lower rows of the image sit behind them. Keep the lockup in the upper two thirds and treat the bottom sixty pixels as a gradient out, which is how the packs are composed.
The animated version is encoded at 18fps over four seconds with a 200-colour palette and lands under 11MB. The lower frame rate relative to the detail strip is deliberate: the connecting dialog is on screen for twenty seconds or more, so a slow, calm loop wears much better than a fast one.
At 6 to 1 there is room for the full lockup over a real view, so the scenes with depth and a bright horizon band read best.
